How It Works
From real experience to a readable story.
ZRGearStory is built for people who have something real to say about gear. Guided questions replace the blank page, and your experience becomes a first-person story readers can learn from.
01
Tell us what happened
Answer guided questions about yourself, the gear, the specific event, what you did next, and where things stand now. You also select the interest disclosure that applies to your relationship with the product, manufacturer, or seller.
02
Review the prepared story
Your answers are organized into a readable first-person story. Review the title, story, public byline, reader-visible interest disclosure, contributor profile, and any professional background. Edit the wording where needed.
03
Place your original photos
Drag your own real-use photos into the story where they belong. When the story, profile, disclosure, and photos look right, submit the finished piece for publication review.
One real experience, told in your words
A Gear Story is built around one real experience: what you were doing, what happened, what you tried, what changed, and what you think now. That focus is what makes it useful to the reader researching the same gear.
Interest disclosure is part of the published story
Free gear, evaluation loans, discounts, sponsorships, affiliate arrangements, employment, consulting, or requests from a manufacturer or seller are disclosed with the story. The disclosure you select is shown to readers alongside the published story.
A relationship with the gear can still make a strong story. Disclose it, and tell the story as a genuine first-person experience. Submissions that read as promotional copy may be labeled accordingly or published outside the Gear Story format.
Original photos from your own experience
Every image in a Gear Story comes from the contributor's own experience with the gear, so readers see what happened in real use. Two photos is enough to start; add more when they help tell the story.
Your contributor profile
Readers see the public name or byline you choose, your role in the firearms or shooting community, your relevant background, and any public professional information you provide. If you work professionally in the field, the intake asks a few structured questions so a fuller professional profile can be prepared and reviewed with the story.
Where a connected CoachZR professional profile is available, the published Gear Story can link readers directly to it.
What happens after you submit
Your story goes to ZRGearStory for publication review. Minor grammar, headline, caption, and formatting corrections may be made, and your meaning stays intact. If a substantial change is needed, we can contact you using the private information supplied with the submission.
A manufacturer may respond through a verified RangeZR Expo company identity. The response is displayed beside the story, and the story stays as you wrote it.
