Real gear · Real experience · First person
Tell the story behind the gear.
A range day, class, hunt, match, repair, failure, surprise, or years of use can teach something another gun owner wants to know. ZRGearStory turns that real experience into a first-person story readers can learn from.
Why share your experience
Your experience can help the next shooter and introduce readers to your work.
Someone is researching the same pistol, optic, holster, suppressor, tool, accessory, or piece of range equipment you already use. What you learned from actually living with it may answer the question they have now.
Long-term ownership, a small discovery, a repair, a teaching lesson, a match experience, a hunting trip, or the reason a piece of gear stayed in your kit can all make a story worth sharing.
What contributing gives you
Turn experience you already have into something people can keep finding.
A useful Gear Story helps readers while building a visible record of the contributor's real-world experience.
Built around real experience
Too many gear reviews say too little.
Search for almost any pistol, optic, holster, or accessory and you find the same thing: rewritten spec sheets, manufacturer photos, and praise from people who never lived with the gear. Readers have learned to tune it out.
A Gear Story comes from someone who was there. Every story shows who is speaking and what relationship, if any, existed around the gear, because interest disclosure is published with the story. Every photo comes from the contributor's own real use, so readers see what actually happened.
Manufacturers can respond through a verified company identity. Their response appears alongside the story, and the story stays as the contributor wrote it.
How it works
From experience to publishable story.
You supply the facts, the experience, the disclosure, and the original photos. The guided process helps turn those pieces into a story readers can follow.
01
Tell us what happened
Answer guided questions about the gear, the specific event, what you did next, and where things stand now. Select the interest disclosure that applies.
02
Review your story
Review the prepared first-person story, your public byline, disclosure, contributor profile, and professional background. Edit the wording where needed.
03
Place original photos
Place your own real-use photos into the story where they belong, then submit the finished piece for publication review.
What belongs here
One real experience per story.

Why I Still Haven't Replaced My Glock 19
A firearms instructor bought a Glock 19 as a working pistol. Years and tens of thousands of rounds later, the story is what repeated use taught him, what he would change, and why he still hasn't replaced it.

Failure, surprise, discovery, success, change.
A malfunction that took weeks to understand. A product that behaved differently after a year. A recurring bench problem. Gear that changed how you teach. Any competition, hunting, repair, range, or training experience where the equipment mattered.
Your experience is worth telling.
